En-Lightning
Lightning glitched out all my machines today. All except for the laptop. Reminds me that laptops sometimes make good server machines cause they come with built in UPS (uninterruptable power supply).
I really like the weather here in Houston. Reminds me of Paris (France, yeah I know there's one in Texas and what a great film and score!) It's the only other place I have been where the rain was so unpredictable like this. It can literally be just raining super hard right across the street and dry as a bone on my side.
On the way home from work today it just started storming seriously. By the time I got home it was throwing lightning bolts the likes of which I have never seen (except for the time when I was almost struck by lightning, but that's another story.) The power went off several times and then I realized it was probably better to just leave the computers off until the brunt of the storm passed.
I think I have come up with a configuration of hardware that will work for what I want to do. The ideal solution is always to just buy more computers. One for the car, one for the web server, one for the mail server, one for the database server. One for a desktop machine, one for dj'ing. Sigh. I'm just not made of money.
Can you imagine having six computers and it not being enough? I was trying to explain my need for machines to my mother the other day and the more I tried to do it the more pathological it sounded. Hmm. Maybe I'm on to something there...
